Statement
Ferreira-Norman's work investigates phenomenological proposals on Geology, forwards socio-political commentary and takes frameworks from other disciplines such as Biomimicry, Stratigraphy, Microscopy and Linguistics.
The practice explores the relationship between surface and depth, the physical world and the immaterial, and uses actions and its debris as artistic methodology.
Delving into art, social and natural sciences, the overarching body of work creates a space for political and social commentary, but has recently gained a more metaphysical dimension that includes sensorial intricacies and more personal exercises.
Biodiversity and the value of life is becoming more and more central, as well as the ergonomics and cognition of the artist's body as part of the artwork making.
