JOIN US for 2026! Resonance in SW Australia Today begins our 2026 Membership Campaign! The goal for this coming year is to inspire a "proactive" environment, where members are supported to engage and commune with their audiences in generative and regenerative ways. Upcoming programs include our annual call for artists + printed book, and the book launch of Wicked Monstrous, featuring over 130 artists addressing plastics. We invite you to join us, and look forward to welcoming you and your practice into this global community of ecological artists who are sharing resources and supporting each others' work. We need all hands on deck! This month we will hear from several of our members "down under," in Australia, three focused on extraction who will participate in our third Indigenizing Dialogues. And, sixteen artists who will present works for the exhibition Resonance: Dialogues in Art and Ecology, curated by Sharmila Wood, at the Southern Forest Arts, Painted Tree Gallery, in Northcliffe, Western Australia. see below We are now at the printers in Germany with Soils Turn! Books ordered from Europe will be shipped from Germany and we are expecting the US/Australia orders to ship by the end of the month. Apologies for the delay. The list of over 175 artists included below Consider joining us today and get fourteen months of membership, including our monthly newsletter with opportunities for residencies/calls for artists/grants and more! Creative research and place-based craft and practice have led me to what Wendell Berry calls “the unsettling of America” and how historical
and contemporary Manifest Destiny have impacted specific landscapes and
cultures. The landscapes I live and work in become
my studio, not as subject matter to draw or paint, but to observe and discover materials that I collect to create portraits of these landscapes. To prepare for my work, I research the
history of a place or landscape in order to learn how interactions between the wild and the human have determined a cultural context. This “collaboration with place” directs and helps me understand what I want to communicate. shawnskabelund.com

ecoartspace has
served as a platform for artists addressing environmental issues since
1999. In 2020, we transitioned to a membership model. Members include
artists, scientists, professionals, students, advocates and institutions sharing
resources and supporting each other's work. This is an inclusive,
non-competitive collaborative environment where we imagine and make
real a healthy, equitable, resilient future.
